What to expect

Before your session.

If you are interested in a photo session with me, please send me an email or give me a call. I’d love to discuss the specifics of what you are looking for in your photo session. We can talk about what type of photos you’d like (senior, family, etc), what location you are interested in, when is the best date/time for your session, and which pricing package you would like. I’ll compile all this information in a convenient booking contract and send it your way. The email will also include information such as the details of the session, how to pay, help on what to wear, and a few other tidbits of information.

An invoice will follow, and you are welcome to pay via PayPal, credit card, or talk with me about paying later by cash or check.  Once the session fee or deposit is paid, your session is officially booked. You can view more about session options here: Photo Shoot Prices. Edited photos are available within 3 weeks of your session.

During your session.

Photo sessions average about and hour and fifteen minutes. We will meet at the selected location at the scheduled time, go over any special photo requests or needs you have, and then get shooting! I like to move around a bit and work with different posing, backgrounds, and walk around to get new perspectives. I try to keep things relaxed, talk with about you and your family, and try not to make it all about posing or stiff smiles. I like to capture the candid moments just as much as the smiling-at-the-camera moments!  If you have some posing ideas, or props you’d like to incorporate, I’ll try my best to work with your ideas, too!

The following are few suggestions which can make your photo experience more enjoyable:

  • Bring items that might help keep your children happy and at ease. We could possibly incorporate these items into the photos, too.
  • Please pay attention to the weather and dress accordingly. It can be hot and chilly cold here in Kansas, all during the same day!
  • If you are planning a clothing change, remember that it may need to be done in the car as locations can be remote and I like to keep moving from one to another as time permits.

In the beginning I usually aim for the “safe photos.” Ones with basic poses, ease you into the session as we get to know each other a little better.

Always know that if the session goes into overtime for reasons such as bad weather, blocked traffic between locations, or delays that might be my fault, there is no additional cost to you.

All I ask is for you to be on time for the start of the session. Being late could cut into session time, and cut down on your final selection of images.

After your session.

Once your session is over, I’ll transfer your photos onto my computer with double backup (hard drives and cloud storage), and begin editing.

During the editing process, I will keep with my normal style of editing – the style that you booked me for.

Once your gallery is ready, I’ll send you an email with your gallery link and password, as well as ordering information. Once I you submit your favorite photos, I will showcase your photo session on Facebook and other social media sites. It’s fun seeing the excitement from family and friends as they get to see your pictures! If for any reason you’d prefer me not to share your photos on social media, please tell me in advance of our session.

You are welcome to order prints from my professional lab through your gallery or use your purchased digital files to get prints made at your favorite lab. Your gallery will be available for six month after posting. I can also design specialty photo albums and photo books with the images from your session. Please contact me for more information on these items, and allow several extra weeks for specialty item processing.

I hope this information has helped prepare you for your photography session! I look forward to our photo session!
